Privacy, in plain English.

This policy explains what Kinder collects and why, when you use the app to coordinate childcare with trusted people.

What Kinder is for

Kinder helps parents coordinate childcare with trusted contacts and private groups. It is intended for parent and guardian use, not as a public social network for children.

Who is responsible

Kinder is provided by Tools for Parents Ltd (company number 17150507), a private limited company registered in England and Wales. Our registered office is 5 Woods Mews, 87 Little Lane, Ilkley, England, LS29 8JF. In this policy, “we”, “us” and “Kinder” mean Tools for Parents Ltd.

Information we collect

Kinder may collect your phone number, name, profile image, child first names you choose to add, contacts and groups you create in Kinder, childcare requests, invitations, events, messages, notification preferences, invite codes, push-token and device-platform details, feedback and any optional screenshot you attach to it, safety reports, Terms acceptance version and timestamp, and basic technical information needed to run and secure the service. Kinder does not request access to your address book.

How we use information

We use this information to create and secure your account, show trusted contacts and groups, send and manage childcare requests, deliver messages and notifications, provide calendar coordination, prevent abuse, investigate feedback and technical problems, respond to reports and support requests, record Terms acceptance, and maintain and improve the service. Depending on the activity, our legal bases may include performing our contract with you, our legitimate interests in security and service operation, and your consent where you grant an optional device permission.

Sharing

Kinder shows your information only where the product needs it, such as to connected parents, approved group members, or invited guardians. We do not sell personal information and do not use it for advertising or cross-app tracking.

Service providers may process limited information for the service: Meta WhatsApp Cloud API processes phone numbers and delivery data for one-time login codes; hosting and database providers host the Kinder service; Supabase stores authenticated feedback, safety-report data and private feedback screenshots; and Expo, Apple and Google provide push-notification delivery. We require providers to protect information and use it only for their contracted services. Some providers may process information outside the UK; where that happens, we use the safeguards required by applicable data-protection law.

Children’s information

Kinder accounts are for adults who are parents or guardians. Children do not create accounts or use Kinder independently. A parent or guardian may enter a child’s first name for childcare coordination. Child details are treated as sensitive; only add information you are comfortable sharing with trusted Kinder contacts and groups.

Retention and deletion

You can delete your account from App Settings in the Kinder app. Deletion removes the account’s active profile, authentication records, child records, relationships, groups, childcare activity, messages, notification settings and push tokens, subject to the limited exceptions below. See the account deletion page if you cannot access the app.

  • Active account data is retained until you delete the account or we close it.
  • Operational and security logs are retained for up to 30 days by default.
  • Feedback screenshots are optional and retained in private storage for up to 30 days. An unsent screenshot may remain in Kinder’s private app cache until it is sent, you sign out or delete your account, your device clears the cache, or Kinder next runs its cleanup after seven days.
  • Service backups are retained for up to 30 days by default, then overwritten or deleted through the backup cycle.
  • Safety reports and necessary evidence are retained for up to 12 months after resolution, unless a longer period is needed for a live safety, legal or law-enforcement matter.
  • One-time login codes stop being valid after five minutes and are retained only as needed for security and service operation.

Events copied to Apple Calendar, Google Calendar or another device calendar are external copies controlled by that calendar provider and are not removed when you delete Kinder.

Permissions

Kinder requests permissions only when needed for a feature, such as notifications, choosing a profile picture or feedback screenshot, or adding accepted childcare bookings to your device calendar. You can deny permissions and continue using the parts of Kinder that do not need them.

Your choices and rights

Subject to applicable law, you may ask for access to, correction of, deletion of, restriction of, or a copy of your personal information, or object to certain processing. You can withdraw optional device permissions in your device settings. Contact us if you want to exercise a right or ask a privacy question. You may also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the service or legal requirements change. We will update this page and, where appropriate, ask you to accept a new Terms or policy version in the app.
